HAPPY 9 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO DETROIT COMMUNID BBQs!!!

Here are a couple highligts from the party:

Ted brought a needle...

On Saturday, Staci brought a football to play with the kids. The ball was low on air and she knew this so she'd bought and brought a small hand air pump. Unfortunately, you need a needle to pump up a football and there wasn't one in the package like she thought.

So we started asking around, does anyone have a ball needle in their car? A pretty unusual and random thing to carry around in your car, but hey... It can't hurt to ask.

Then we meet Ted. Ted has been invited to Elevate Detroit CommuniD BBQs for months and for months he's declined to come. But today, for whatever reason, Ted finally decided to come. On his way, Ted stopped by the store and bought a bag of attachments for a bicycle pump. He didn't know why.

Ted heard we needed one and remembered he'd bought the bag of attachments not knowing what was in it. Low and behold, there was a needle in the bag. The football got pumped up. The kids got to play catch. Even in the little things... as small as a needle... God provides.

Those diapers are too small...

I have a young daughter. She's 11 months old, beautiful and absolutely incredible.

Deborah had brought a few things to the BBQ for my daughter and me. Among them, she brought a couple boxes of diapers. Deborah and I walked to the trunk of her car to get the things she brought. I thanked her, but told her the diapers would be too small for my girl.

Literally right then, a woman parked her car next to us and walked up. She couldn't see into the trunk yet and hadn't heard anything we'd just said. Standing next to the car (still unable to see into the trunk), she asked us if anyone happen to have any diapers that she could have. She said she didn't need any food or anything today, but she came today just to see if there might be some diapers. I smiled and pointed into the trunk. "I think those are for you," I said. And there they were... Two large boxes of size 2 diapers... the size she needed. Unknowingly brought just for her grandaughter.

Our new tire swing!!

We had cake!!

About 1200 people every month come to a CommuniD BBQ somewhere in southeast Michigan. For 9 years, hundreds of people from every imaginable walk of life have come and shared their time. They've brought food, supplies, footballs, diapers, lawnmowers, money, hugs, smiles and prayers, but most importantly... their TIME.

Make no mistake... whatever you have that you can spare, God can use it to make a difference.

Come and join us on a Saturday. Bring food or supplies to share if you can. Come and give a hug, spend the day and take a turn on the tire swing!
